at my age, very few people want to stay put. dreams, destinations, desires all have the spotlight of our thoughts at any given moment of the day or night. what stops us from pursuing our nomadic nature? sometimes I think it could be cowardice, otherwise I blame it on nostalgia. this may come out as a curve ball, but let me explain.

nostalgia ripens just as much as we do as individuals because life never stops ripening. think back to your lowest point in life, absolute lowest. there is a reason you can think back, it's because you let go and moved forward. you understood that life was going to move on regardless if you participated or not. memories don't ripen, they stay the same. you've learned that the past belongs to your memories, and those you select will always remain in your present.

I will say this, very few people I know allow life to move past them without at least dipping their toes in it. and what is an experience without overcoming fear? overcoming the risk of change and something new? there shouldn't be room for fear, only anticipation as each new experience awaits to be conquered. why? because more of life ahead is in our control than we realize, just like more of what we hold onto from our past is in our control. and we can always give importance to what we find important, right? just some food for thought the next time you choose to stay put.
